Priargunsky Mining and Chemical Production Association PJSC (Trans-Baikal Territory, Krasnokamensk)

Priargunsky Mining and Chemical Production Association PJSC  (Priargunsky)is the largest diversified mining and processing enterprise in the Trans-Baikal Territory, the flagship of the Russian uranium mining industry.

Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union was established by Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated 20.02.1968 No. 108-31 with the aim of developing in the southeast of the Chita Region of an enterprise for the extraction and processing of uranium ores on the basis of the Streltsov ore field.

The main activity of PIMCU, PJSC is the production of uranium oxide concentrate with the aim of its further enrichment at the enterprises of the nuclear fuel cycle of the Rosatom State Corporation. In 2014, the company produced 1970 tonnes of uranium.

Along with the extraction and processing of uranium raw materials, PIMCU, PJSC produces a number of other products in demand on the market — concentrates of non-ferrous and precious metals, base gold bullions and high-purity elements, among others. Presently, PIMCU, PJSC has a well-developed infrastructure and is self-sustaining for virtually everything necessary for the production of uranium products: materials, water, compressed air, electricity, mineral uranium raw materials, coal, limestone, sulfuric acid, mining and chemical engineering products.

As a city-forming enterprise, PIMCU, PJSC is a socially-oriented employer, interested in the development of the territory of presence. The company regularly initiates and implements projects that are socially important for Krasnokamensk, while within the consolidated group of taxpayers, additional funds are received annually to develop and maintain the city’s infrastructure.

Since August 2008 Priargunsky is a subsidiary of JSC Atomredmetzoloto.

In 2015, 1977 tons of uranium were produced (+7 tons to the level of 2014);

The decision to finance the design and construction of Mine No. 6 at Priargunsky, adopted by the investment committee of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation, was one of the key achievements of 2015. In addition, a crushing and grading complex was put into operation at the coal yard of the Urtuiskoye open pit mine office. The enterprise has succeeded in raising the level of labor productivity, reducing the cost of production of finished products by 12%.

The attainment by PIMCU, PJSC of break-even level of operation became a significant achievement of the Holding’s team in 2016. Also, the enterprise received a positive conclusion from the Federal Autonomous Institution “Glavgosexpertiza of Russia” on the project for the construction of Mine No. 6, whose launch will secure PIMCU, PJSC’s continued stable development.

The start of financing the construction of the No. 6 Mine of Priargunsky became the most important result of 2017. The first tranche of funds in the amount of RUB 389 mmn was allocated for the construction of infrastructure facilities. The launch of the mine will open new prospects for both the city-forming enterprise and the city of Krasnokamensk, which is the “uranium capital” of Russia.

Priargunsky’s profitable operation in 2017 (7 million rubles) is yet another significant achievement that testifies to the effective work of management in extremely unfavorable market conditions.

The high acclaim of experts earned by Priargunsky’s models of self-propelled mining equipment developed at the enterprise is a production achievement of the company. At Mine No. 8, automated access control system was put into commercial operation. It is a project aimed at improving work safety, reducing injuries.

JSC Atomredmetzoloto is systematically working to increase the investment attractiveness of the regions where it operates. n 2016, the territory of advanced social and economic development (ASED) “Krasnokamensk” was established in the Trans-Baikal Territory, whose activities will ensure the diversification of the city’s economy. With ARMZ’s support, the first three enterprises were registered in the ASER resident register in 2017, more than 20 jobs were created, 5 million rubles were transferred to the city budget. The largest investment project, implemented by JSC AtomSpetsment involves the construction of a grinding complex of a special cements plant and the employment of 120 local residents.
